Why 20×30 Cuts Things Off
Because 20×30 is exactly 2:3, a camera photo shot in 2:3 scales straight up with nothing lost — but a phone photo is 3:4, so filling the frame trims about a ninth off the width, just as it does at 4×6. At this size the loss is harder to ignore: a print that big usually hangs on its own wall, and a cropped-off elbow or a missing edge of the skyline is the first thing anyone notices. It is also the size where softness shows, since a 20×30 is often viewed from a couple of metres rather than at arm's length, so the sharpening matters as much as the shape.
Instead of trimming your photo down to the shape, we generate more of the scene around it until it fits — and sharpen the whole image in the same pass.

20×30 Questions
Can I print a phone photo at 20×30?
You can, but it's where a phone photo's limits show. Viewed from a normal distance, a 20×30 looks fine at around 150 pixels per inch, which is 3000×4500 pixels. A typical 12-megapixel phone photo is 4032×3024: enough on the short edge, a little under on the long one, and the wrong shape. So it is both upscaled and extended from 3:4 to 2:3 to fit.
Is 20×30 the same shape as 4×6?
Yes. Both are 2:3, so anything that fits a 4×6 perfectly fits a 20×30 perfectly too, just five times larger on each side.
